Weekend Plans in the Garden Route?

Category Lifestyle

Long weekends are much-needed breaks we all need after a crazy week with deadlines and meetings. That being said, finding time to make plans with family and friends can be a daunting task.

Whether you're going on a weekend away or lucky enough to live within the tranquil Garden Route, there are a host of exciting and incredible locations tucked away within this setting perfect for a long weekend getaway. Property Tree Garden Route is here to help make that planning process much easier.

Fascinating wildlife and spectacular scenery

To be able to see the most spectacular views, you most likely have to hike up a mountain. Luckily, that need not always be the case. At Tsitsikamma National Park, now known as the Garden Route National Park, the hike to the Storms River Suspension bridge sees you journey through bird-filled forests, past glistening waterfalls, and towards stunning sea views where the Indian Ocean and the river merge.

And for those that are trying to tick off some experiences on their lists, why not attempt crossing the bridge? We guarantee it's safe!

Birds of Eden

You may also wish to engage with the local avian population and discover the birds your children read and talk about from school. Birds of Eden provides a serene sanctuary for all types of wildlife and is a perfect weekend plan for your family.

Birds of Eden is the second-largest shelter in South Africa with more than 280 bird species from all across the globe. The park stretches across 2 km, granting you a full day's worth of looking and engaging with different birds. Some of the more permanent residences include parrots of all species. The most amazing thing about the parrots is that they were previously loved, which means humans can easily engage and interact with them.

Try a physical leap of faith! Bloukrans Bungy is the world's highest commercial bungee jumping bridge, and for adrenaline Junkies, it scratches the itch. Discover your long lost spontaneity by crossing the bridge and diving 216 metres into the deep gorge below the Storms River. Good Luck if you're trying that out!
